I finally have 2 paintings complete for the Halesworth Gallery open exhibition in Sept. 🙂
I was working on 2 paintings for this show, and I indicated them in my vlog last time. However, as these paintings were progressing they were feeling very wrong and they weren’t going as planned. I was trying a new colour regime – using my usually subdominant colours as dominant ones. This made the paintings quite cool. Mostly I love to paint warm paintings with lots of orange, browns and golds. So you can imagine that unwittingly I had created an image that just wasn’t resonating with me.
Once I realised this I abandoned those 2 canvases and started 2 new ones.
Here are the results:

The first painting is entitled “This is Home for a While” – the second picture is the detail.
The second painting is entitled “Secret Berry Tree” – the second picture is the detail.

All that needs to be done now is varnish them and coat the sides in a nice warm dark brown.

Now I have to get busy with completing the commission I’m doing, and then the body of work for The Enchanted Earth exhibition in December – the joint show with Natasha Newton.

Thats all for now – I’ll post news and new work as it is completed.

I am pleased to announce that you can now buy prints of my work via imagekind.
After the success of The Silent Landscape exhibition, I have had many requests for prints. I decided to make these available now, and I will be also holding stock of prints at the next exhibition, Enchanted Earth, in December.
There are now 6 favourite prints available here at

If you have any requests, please let me know 🙂 I can upload more images, and you can buy direct from imagekind.

Please note that I have kept the price of the print down to accommodate the high shipping charges. Shipping is more expensive outside of the USA, so if you are ordering from the UK, you will find the total prices at around £40-50 GBP, which is around what I would be charging if you bought from me at a show.

Please pop along and have a look, and feel free to feedback. 🙂

Well, theres a lot going on here!

Since The Silent Landscape exhibition finished I have had 2 days off camping, and then back into the swing of it all! I am currently working on 3 canvases for Suffolk Showcase, an open exhibition starting July 4th at the Bury St. Edmunds Gallery. Then I have 2 more to do for another open exhibition at The Halesworth Gallery in September. Meanwhile I’ve been working on an unusual commission, a clay hare, which is turning out very cute and successful.

Yesterday I had a meeting with Natasha Newton about another exhibition we’re planning for Christmas. I can now reveal some details. It will be entitled, “Enchanted Earth”. It will be held at The Cinema Gallery in Aldeburgh, 17th – 23rd December, with a Special Event on Saturday 19th. (More to be revealed about that later). All the works will be 12×12″ and smaller, making it an affordable art show.

Finally, I am putting together a book of the body of work I produced for recent exhibition, The Silent Landscape. It will be a simple paper back book, affordable, and a wonderful reminder of the show, and a keepsake for those who visited, and for those who weren’t able to come. I will be using and I’ll let you know when its ready to buy. :)))

So thats all the news here at the moment. I will be very busy for the next few weeks, and I will keep you updated as much as possible.

The show is now over, and it was a lovely week, with many sales and great feedback.

More news to come about future projects – its going to be a busy exhibition year!

Thanks for all your support :))

Now its time to photograph, document, prepare the sides of the all canvases, varnish, apply hanging wire, create info sheets, order postcard prints, and post the invites for the private view. Phew!
Its only 4 weeks to go now too, so there’s still lots of other stuff to do too….

In a couple of weeks I’ll put the whole body of work on here so you can see them all together.
Back soon 🙂

This has come out well and will be put in the exhibition in May (The Silent Landscape).

I am now working on a new one inspired by Steven Heaton’s wonderful photo (he has given me permission). You can see it here

I’ll also be tweaking a couple of other paintings and photographing them. This happens sometimes – paintings are done, but one has to live with them for a while before the final decision is made.

Back soon with more updates.

This is my new completed painting for The Silent Landscape Exhibition.
I’m really pleased with this piece. Everything about it has fallen into place. I’m sure its been helped by my delivery of new materials today, of which I used the Gold Ochre and a new rigger brush for acrylics.
Yes, I did this painting today from start to finish! Its quite small (measurements under the photo below) so it wasn’t difficult to complete in a few hours. Sometimes it goes like that – a painting just goes right from start to finish…

Anyway – enjoy!

Yes, I’m obsessed with Autumn, its colours and its atmosphere!!
Anyway, here’s the new one 🙂

A new painting completed for the upcoming show.
The inspiration for this painting came when we were camping last September in the bell tent. Because it was such good weather we woke early, often before dawn. It was on one of these mornings that we witnessed dawn over the seaside town of Blakeney, across the marshes on the North Norfolk Coast in England. We took lots of photos for reference, and this painting shows the scene just before the sun came up. It was slightly misty and all we could see were the 2 towers of the church.

Well, the UK has certainly seen enough of this over recent times and guess what…?  I was inspired!!  So out came this painting which was really nice to do.  It’s such a simple painting, but effective and enchanting (so I’ve been told).

february-snow-completeI like it so much its been selected for the upcoming show, The Silent Landscape in May.  This is my 13th painting for this show – I still need to do another 12.  Most of the paintings I have completed so far are ranging from 6×4″ to 12×16″.  I need to work on the bigger paintings now, which will be great because the paintings I’ve done have been a good warm up for the larger works.

Incidently, Natasha and I had a meeting today and we’re making good progress.

So thats it today.  I’ve subscribed to 2 new sites which you are welcome to check out and

If you want to view the paintings for the show only, they are updated as the paintings are complete at

Thanks 🙂
